Her Story
About Kayla
I began my customer service journey with Cigna in October 2022 and transitioned to HCSC after they acquired the Medicare side. I've been with HCSC for about 1 year and 4 months now. My passion project is my nonprofit KROAMZ meaning keeping real opportunities around Memphis which I founded around three years ago to help people in situations I once faced by connecting them with financial and support resources. As a Memphis native and single mother of four boys I pour my energy into community initiatives like youth programs at schools fundraisers and helping the homeless to improve opportunities and changing the narrative about our city.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My mentor told me to stay true to myself and keep my integrity because reputation and work ethic will outshine titles and sustain long-term success. He reminded me of my reasons for doing the work when I felt like giving up.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stay true to your core values and try to find your purpose. Help others find their reason for being here and make meaningful change or inspire hope especially for young women.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Resilience determination and being family-centered are core to me. I am a fighter with natural ambition always looking for ways forward and installing values in my four boys while being active in the community and gym.
