Kayla Rusello

Kayla Welytok is a passionate and driven media professional currently serving as both a director and producer for a daytime talk show. Her journey in journalism began in college, where she majored in journalism and communications and quickly rose to become editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper. That early leadership role set the tone for her career, blending strong editorial instincts with a deep commitment to storytelling.

In 2022, Kayla began as an intern at News Channel 9, where she gained hands-on experience in production before transitioning to digital content creation—writing web articles and producing online features. Her ability to adapt and grow within the fast-paced environment earned her a place on the station’s Emmy-nominated team for their coverage of tornadoes in upstate New York. The nomination, with the awards ceremony scheduled for next month, reflects the impact of her work and her skill in balancing sensitive reporting with journalistic integrity.
