Her Story

About Kaylee

Kaylee Rolack is an undergraduate student majoring in Criminal Justice at North Carolina A&T State University in the Honors College, with an expected graduation in May 2029. Her interest in law stems from family members including a retired circuit court judge great-uncle and several lawyers in her family. Rolack has gained practical experience through an internship at a law firm where she worked on accident cases and workers' compensation matters, as well as work with the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus. She is actively involved in organizations including Black Woman on a Mission, Black Girls Govern, and Black Women in Law. Rolack founded the Lady Justice Collective on Instagram to make legal and criminal justice information more accessible to young students by posting scholarships, legal facts, and advocacy resources. She attributes her drive to making her family proud, achieving financial stability, and ensuring justice for others as she plans to attend law school after graduation.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kaylee

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the drive that’s been shaped by my family, my upbringing, and the goals I refuse to let go of. Everything I do is rooted in wanting to make my mom and my family proud, to build a life where stability, security, and abundance are my norm. I’m motivated by the desire to create a future where I never have to struggle, where I can live comfortably and confidently. But beyond my personal goals, my success is fueled by my commitment to justice. I want to enter the legal profession to make sure people receive the fairness and protection they deserve. My ambition, my purpose, and the people who believe in me are what keep me moving forward.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mom. As a kindergarten teacher, she always reminded me to “keep going,” no matter how challenging things felt. She taught me that education is a foundation no one can take away from you, and that staying committed to your goals will open doors you never imagined. Her words have carried me through every stage of my academic journey, and they continue to guide the way I approach my future. That simple reminder to keep going has shaped my work ethic, my resilience, and my belief that I can build the career I dream of.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don’t shrink yourself, your voice, your perspective, and your lived experiences are assets. Ask questions, seek mentorship, and never be afraid to take up space in rooms where you may be the youngest or the only one who looks like you. Stay committed to your education and your growth, because knowledge will always be your power. And most importantly, keep going. The path isn’t always easy, but your resilience will carry you farther than you imagine. Build community, trust your abilities, and remember that you deserve every opportunity that comes your way.
