About Kayley
Kayley Willson is the Founder and Creative Director of Home by Pari LLC, a curated vintage home and lifestyle brand based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Built on a love for timeless design, storytelling, and the beauty of things often overlooked, Home by Pari represents more than a business. It is a story of resilience, reinvention, and finding opportunity in unexpected places.
In September 2025, following the loss of her position in nonprofit refugee resettlement due to federal funding constraints, Willson found herself navigating an unexpected career transition. During a visit to a local thrift store, she discovered a brass tray that others might have passed by. Where someone else saw an ordinary secondhand object, she saw possibility. After restoring and selling the piece, she began to envision a business built around rescuing, reviving, and reimagining forgotten treasures.
What began with one brass tray quickly developed into Home by Pari, a growing business that has attracted hundreds of sales and customers drawn to its thoughtfully curated vintage home décor and furniture. With an appreciation for craftsmanship, character, and history, Willson believes beautiful homes are not defined by expensive furnishings, but by meaningful pieces that tell a story.
Before entering entrepreneurship, Willson dedicated her professional career to supporting refugees and families navigating significant life transitions. Through her work with Bethany Christian Services and Church World Services, she assisted newly arrived families with housing, community integration, language learning, and establishing a sense of belonging.
A graduate of Western Michigan University, Willson holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies, with a minor in Comparative Religion, as well as a certificate in American Sign Language. Her academic background and professional experiences shaped her appreciation for cultural identity, human connection, and the importance of recognizing value beyond first impressions.
These principles continue to influence her work today. Whether helping families establish new beginnings or restoring a piece of furniture that has been forgotten, Willson has consistently found purpose in recognizing potential and creating opportunities for renewal.
Beyond Home by Pari, Willson works as a substitute teacher while balancing life as a wife, mother, and entrepreneur. She enjoys tennis, volunteering, spending time with her family, and remaining involved in her community. Her volunteer experience includes the Red Cross Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Willson credits much of her journey to self-belief, perseverance, and the encouragement of her husband, family, and close friends. Guided by integrity, kindness, and a desire to make a meaningful difference, she hopes to continue expanding Home by Pari while exploring opportunities to connect entrepreneurship with community impact.
For Willson, success is not simply measured by sales or business growth. It is measured by the courage to begin again, the ability to recognize opportunity where others may not, and the willingness to create something meaningful from an unexpected chapter of life.
Her story is a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful beginnings come from the things, and moments we never expected to find.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kayley
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to believing in myself and having the incredible support of my husband, family, and close friends. Starting my business was not something I originally expected, but I trusted my creativity and took a chance on an opportunity that presented itself. What began with finding a brass tray at a thrift store has grown into a business that has generated hundreds of sales. I am proud of how far I have come and grateful to the people who have encouraged me throughout this journey.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I follow is to never give up, believe in myself, and approach challenges with a positive mindset. Building a business requires patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep going even when things feel uncertain. I have learned that believing in my abilities and maintaining a positive outlook can help me navigate setbacks and recognize opportunities for growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to women is not to become discouraged when self-doubt arises. There will be moments when you question your abilities or wonder whether your ideas will succeed, but those feelings do not have to determine your future. Keep pushing forward, trust yourself, and remain committed to your goals. I believe that with persistence, confidence, and a willingness to learn, you can work toward achieving the things you dream of.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of my biggest challenges is balancing my responsibilities as a mother, wife, and business owner while making time for the professional demands of running a business. Managing these different roles requires flexibility, planning, and a willingness to adapt. At the same time, entrepreneurship has given me the opportunity to reinvent myself, discover new strengths, and grow as a leader. Building Home by Pari has allowed me to turn my passion for vintage and antique pieces into a business while exploring new ways to combine creativity, sustainability, and community impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, kindness, and doing the right thing are central to my work and personal life. I believe in standing up for people, helping others access the resources they need, and treating everyone with compassion and respect. I also value maintaining a healthy work-life balance, particularly while managing my responsibilities as a mother, wife, and entrepreneur. For me, success means building a business that reflects my values while making room for family, personal well-being, and meaningful ways to help others.
