Her Story

About Kaylie

Kaylie Mynar serves as Preconstruction Lead in the construction industry, a role to which she was promoted in January. With eight years of experience in construction following time in oil and gas, she handles project estimating, takeoffs, trade partner meetings, team collaboration, and pipeline outreach across multiple offices. A graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station with a degree in agricultural communications and journalism, originally pursuing pre-med studies, Mynar credits her success to never giving up, viewing herself as an equal in male-dominated environments, asking questions, and speaking up to ensure she is heard. She values family as a dedicated mother, integrity, trustworthiness, openness, and teamwork. Mynar advises continuous learning, listening, collaboration, and seeking mentors, especially for women entering the field.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kaylie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think never giving up. I've worked in oil and gas before this, which is a male-dominated industry. Never giving up, don't think that you're not supposed to be in the room. I've always just gone in and treated myself as I'm an equal, regardless of what anybody else thinks. Push forward, ask questions, make sure that I'm heard. If I'm not heard, I speak up about it.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never stop asking questions, and never stop learning, no matter what level you get to. Listen to everyone. For feedback, for ideas. And collaborate.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Find others that might be walking your path, or find a mentor. Having another female support who's walked through what you're about to walk through really helped me in my career. I've always had a mentor, whether it be a project manager or another person, I have always had someone I could go to to talk to and help me if I have questions to grow and learn.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I am a mom, so I take being a mom very seriously. I've excelled in my career but also make sure I'm putting my daughter first. Family values are big for me. Integrity, being a trustworthy person, being somebody who's open, and that people can come to. Being a team player.
