Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kaylin
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the transformative experience I had in my master’s program at SDU, which helped me become more intentional and connected to my values and identity. My faith has also been an important source of guidance, along with the unwavering support of my partner, who has believed in me even when I struggled to believe in myself.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to maintain perspective, especially in leadership situations, and to develop strong self-awareness. I believe it’s important to make intentional choices about how I show up and contribute in professional spaces.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Perspective and self-awareness are everything. Be mindful of how you show up and the space you take up in a room. Once you develop that awareness, remember that you have a choice—you can either stay the same or use that knowledge to take action and create meaningful change.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges has been often being the youngest and only woman in the room, which initially contributed to imposter syndrome. I’ve worked through this by building practical skills, bridging the gap between education and real-world application, and surrounding myself with people who provide honest and constructive feedback.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family and faith are the values that matter most to me. They keep me grounded, guide my decisions, and remind me of what is truly important in both my work and personal life.
