About Keanisha
Keanisha Johnson is a writer and self-published author whose passion for writing began in third grade when teachers praised her work to her mother. After working as a bus driver with a CDL Class A license, she pursued writing starting in December 2020 and became a member of the American Writers and Artists Institute (AWAI) in March 2021. Johnson earned a B2B certificate from AWAI in June 2022 and found her purpose in writing her story. She created her own Maintain and Joy newsletter in April 2024 focused on seniors at the senior center where she worked, which led to her role as the newsletter writer for her church since July 2024. She has published three self-published books on themes of rejection at home and school along with low-content books such as a bill utility tracker and a menstrual cycle tracker. Johnson volunteered writing blogs for Arts in Connecticut and credits her success to the support of her husband and mother along with her own determination and resilience.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from my husband and my mother who have been very supportive, along with my own determination and resilience. Even while driving buses to pay the bills, I stayed focused on pursuing writing because my mother encouraged me to write my story and I found my purpose through it.
