Her Interview

Ten minutes with Keara

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from my mom, a single mom who raised me as an only child. We went from not having a home to getting an apartment and eventually a house through her hard work and resilience. Seeing her strength gave me the strength to do the same, and as a feminist I want to show other women they can succeed too.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Always advocate for yourself. A recent professor told me they were proud of me for advocating for myself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't ever limit yourself because there's no limits to what you can do and how far you can go. Keep going and keep showing your strength and resilience. Get together with your community of powerful women.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The patriarchy is intense, especially in Texas, and trying to surpass that and find strength to fight it.
