Her Story

About Keianna

I am a human resource generalist at Lineage, where I focus on onboarding, retention and compliance. I support a facility of 110 people where I serve as the overall go-to person for engagement, payroll issues, and any personal issues team members may be facing. Employee relations is a huge focus for me - I'm not here to judge, I'm here to support. I've been in the supply chain field for 7 years, and I've been with Lineage for 6 years. I started my career in operations as an operational leader and supervisor, mainly focusing on external customers. I have a degree in logistics, but I fell in love with the human resource side of the business and made that switch about 2 years ago. What inspired me to go into HR was experiencing not-so-great human resource earlier in my career. Myself and some of my peers were going through a pretty negative culture in an all-around warehouse, and I knew that I could be someone that people needed to want to come to work every day. We spend so much time at work - you should be able to want to come to work. This is my third facility with Lineage - I started in our Geneva location, worked in the Rochelle location, and now I'm in University Park. I live by what we call the Platinum Rule here at Lineage: we treat others how they want to be treated versus how I want to be treated, because we all want to be treated differently and we all thrive in different spaces.

Ten minutes with Keianna

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Just be authentically you. Human resource is one of those things where we are asked to be a little bit of everything for just about everyone. Just having the passion behind what you do and being who you are, you bring so much to the table, and you get to be someone that's so important - you can be the most important person to somebody's day, on any given day. So just keeping that in mind.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them that you're gonna go through some storms. But, at the end of the day, it's all worth it if you have the passion for what you do. And it doesn't matter if that's in human resource, if it's in logistics, there are going to be some days where you feel like you're not good enough, but you are an amazing person.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Having my voice heard, getting the stakeholders to hear me and my ideas. I'm influential, not authoritative. So being that influential person to those that need me to be. Giving a voice to the voiceless.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Respect and trust are most important to me. I believe that respect is given initially, and you should live by respect daily. I know a lot of people think that respect is earned, but I don't think that's true. I think you should respect everyone at face value. And then trust - trust is extremely important in my role. I'm not here to judge, I'm here to support, so I need to trust that you know that about me. I also live by what we call the Platinum Rule here at Lineage. We treat others how they want to be treated versus how I want to be treated, because we all want to be treated differently, and we all thrive in different spaces.
