Keila Lashun Boyd
I'm the owner of KB Inspire Notary Services, where I provide 100% remote online notarizations at people's convenience. I became a traditional commissioned notary in 2024, and I wanted to do something different because I'd been working that kind of 9-to-5 job. I realize that people are busy, and I know I'm a busy mom, so I wanted to make it easy for people to contact me and provide their services at a convenience. I've been doing healthcare for over 20 years and also insurance work, so I have a strong customer service background. I've always been very big with trying to help people. I'm always the person working out there, but I've always wanted to work remotely. Since I've been doing insurance remotely, that's what gave me the idea - why not just do something remote? Why not do something different? My main area of expertise is helping people. I always want to help people. That's always been my main thing. I believe in serving people. Each and every day, you gotta learn something different, which I've been learning. My typical day is just busy, handling everything from marketing to trying to find ways to get customers.

What do you attribute your success to?
To God, because I'm a firm believer in Him. I know a lot of people don't talk about that, but I'm a firm believer in Him. I think that's where it comes from. I've been broken in life many times , and I guess He's healing me with what I write and what I say. I feel like it's a healing mechanism going on. I feel that God has healed me, even though I'm telling people my story. I feel like I'm being called, that he's calling me to tell my story, to heal other people, like God has healed me.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
No matter what you do, what career advice you receive, always believe in your self, and your dreams, because they were placed in you for a reason. Always pursue them, regardless of what people tell you.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You have to believe in yourself, regardless if anyone does not stand with you on that belief. No matter what people tell you, just believe in yourself. If you really want to pursue something and fail, try again at it. It is better to make so many mistakes, than never try at something and give up on your dreams. Always remember to keep the Dream in front of you!
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Some of the biggest challenges that I have faced in my field, is having so much experience versus starting out. While I was doing my research, it seems that most businesses in my area have been in business for the most 10 years and the least of 3 years. It is a challenge to prove to the customers that I am the best option when I am dealing with other pioneers of this field. But I realized that I can't compare myself to anyone else. Everyone's path is different. I just want to be a difference maker. That is why I chose to provide 100% Remote Online Notarizations only. I figure people are busy, so why not meet the customers when they are busy and in a need for a Notary. My current business operating hours are Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm. I am currently working on changing my business operating hours to something more flexible for the customers.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
To be honest, it's hard to juggle the work and life balance. But the best thing , is being present with both of these. I think being present, and just being who you are, and loving who you are, and loving who's around you, and what you do, makes a big difference in everything. Having a great support system helps, and it makes a big difference in everything that I do. Just to take the little moments of what I had to dealt with. Like, life has dealt me really bad and hard times. But I learned that I have to take the bad with the good. No matter what may come against me, I try to make the best of every moment count. Like, I always say, for every setback, there's a comeback.
