Ten minutes with Keisha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my children, who continue to be my greatest source of motivation and inspiration. They encourage me to keep pushing forward, embrace challenges, and pursue my goals with determination. I strive to lead by example and show them that with dedication, resilience, and a commitment to growth, they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Their belief in me inspires me to continue learning, evolving, and creating a future that reflects the power of perseverance and possibility.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is that it is never too late to pursue your goals and create the future you envision. Earlier in my life, especially in my 20s, I may not have accomplished as much as I am accomplishing today, but the encouragement and wisdom from my elders reminded me that success is not defined by a timeline. I have learned that mindset, determination, and the willingness to take action are key to achieving personal and professional growth. I believe that as long as you are committed to learning, evolving, and pursuing your passions, you can create new opportunities at any stage of your journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the technology industry is to embrace the opportunities available and be willing to take the first step. Technology is constantly evolving and offers countless paths for growth, innovation, and career advancement. There are many free and accessible certifications, training programs, and resources that can help build foundational skills and open doors to new opportunities. I encourage women to explore areas that genuinely interest them, continue learning, earn relevant certifications, and have the confidence to grow their expertise. With curiosity, persistence, and a commitment to development, they can build successful and rewarding careers in technology.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the technology industry is the continued lack of representation and diversity, particularly for women in a traditionally male-dominated field. As a woman and a Black woman in technology, I recognize the importance of creating more opportunities for diverse voices and perspectives to be represented in the industry. At the same time, this presents a tremendous opportunity for growth, innovation, and positive change. I encourage more women to explore careers in technology, pursue education and certifications, and confidently take their place in this evolving field. The future of technology will be stronger with greater inclusion, collaboration, and representation.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, accountability, and follow-through. I believe that when you make a commitment or set a goal, it is important to honor that commitment and see it through to completion. Being dependable, honest, and transparent in my actions allows me to build trust with others and maintain strong relationships. I strive to approach every opportunity with a strong sense of responsibility, ensuring that my words align with my actions and that I consistently deliver on my promises.
