Her Story
About Kelea
Kelea Skelton is a senior at Brigham Young University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Experience Design and Management with a minor in Global Business and Literacy. Passionate about creating meaningful human experiences, she is building a career focused on hospitality, event planning, and improving patient experiences in healthcare settings. Her academic journey reflects a commitment to understanding how thoughtful design, service, and innovation can positively shape the lives of individuals and communities. Conversational in Japanese, Kelea also values lifelong learning and continually seeks opportunities to expand her skills and perspective.
Outside the classroom, Kelea has demonstrated exceptional leadership through community engagement and service. She is the founding chapter lead of Cycling Without Age in Carlsbad, California, where she coordinates volunteers, fundraising initiatives, and community partnerships to provide older adults with opportunities for connection and mobility through trishaw rides. She also serves as a Zumba instructor, creating inclusive fitness experiences that foster community, and previously mentored a high school JustServe club, organizing service projects and fundraising efforts. Earlier experience as a front desk and phone receptionist at ENT and Allergy Associates strengthened her communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities while serving patients in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Kelea credits her success to the people who have invested in her growth—especially her mentor Brian Hill and her parents—as well as the intentional experiences that have challenged and shaped her. Guided by a Christ-centered approach to life, she strives to lead with kindness, service, joy, and optimism in every endeavor. A creative individual who enjoys DIY projects, music, and playing the drums, she believes that personal and professional growth comes from embracing one's unique strengths rather than comparing them to others. Her advice to aspiring professionals is to pursue what they love with grit and persistence, prioritize their well-being, and never stop learning as they create meaningful experiences that make a lasting impact.

Ten minutes with Kelea
01What do you attribute your success to?
The people around me and the experiences I've intentionally put into my life. The people you surround yourself with shape you more than anything, and designing your circle is the best teacher. Experiences teach a lot too.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Stick to what you know you'll be good at and what you know you'll love. Have the grit to get there, balance with health, and dig the passion out of yourself to do it.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Reshape the way you think about your strengths and abilities. Don't compare yourself to others or devalue your own strengths. Expand your perspective and lean into the strengths you already have. Push yourself more and practice habits to learn.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Lead every day with a Christ-centered faith and life. Be kind and serving to others. Find joy and energy wherever you go. Have a positive attitude that lifts others up. Remind people that our attitude affects ourselves and others.
