National Account Manger

20 years experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (with the last 12 years focused on the beverage industry) has shaped who I am today. I started as a Sales Rep and worked my way up through many different roles and responsibilities - across sales, marketing, and revenue management/analytics. My journey has taken me from Cadbury (CPG/Confectionery industry) with roles ranging from Regional Chain Account Manager to analytical positions in Revenue Management after being acquired by Kraft Foods. In 2012, I transitioned to the Adult Beverage industry beverage when Molson Coors brought me on in a Revenue Management & Business Analyst role. From there, I moved back into sales-facing roles where I truly thrive, including Craft & Import Distributor Sales Manager, a Marketing Manager role working on trade marketing projects and brand acquisitions, and a Senior Distributor Sales Managerial role. Taking a leap of faith, I left Adult Bev and spent two-years at Red Bull North America - overseeing Distributor Partners and Chain Marketing, before returning back to Adult Bev. For the last 4+ years, I have overseen National Accounts (Walmart) for Constellation Brands. With hard work and dedication, I truly believe my career has been shaped by taking calculated risks, stepping outside my comfort zone, and collaborating with great minds to ensure I'm always "learning" how to grow myself, my experience, and the team/culture and portfolio of those I have the privilege of working alongside.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I come from a family of farmers in the Midwest, so hard work and work ethic is something that has been in my blood from day one. You've got to put in the sweat equity if you want to get good results - good in, good out. What's really helped shape me the most was being okay with taking on uncertainty and challenges and stepping outside of my comfort zone. At one point in my career, I never would have pinned myself as an analytical person, but I took on Sales Analyst and Revenue Management roles and learned so much. I didn't have marketing experience, but I stepped into a Marketing Manager role - and the ability to have that autonomy and trust from Senior Leadership to help build the plane as we fly it - has been key. It's been a culmination of taking calculated and smart risks, as well as a conscious effort to always be listening and learning from those around me (be in customers/buyers, wholesaler key stakeholders, direct reports and how to best support them, etc.) that has shaped me along this 20 year journey through leadership roles sales, marketing, and analytics.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be authentically you! Not every role or opportunity will be the right one...and that's ok! When you do find a company, a team, a culture that values you for who you are and what you bring to the table, you'll know it. Those are the opportunities where you'll thrive.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The Adult Beverage segment is always changing. New segments, new trends, new items, flavors, packages...you name it! Being able to understand and anticipate consumers wants and needs is crucial. As is ensuring that we're aligned within our network to deliver on those needs. Taking calculated risks is imperative for growth. Gone are the days of "that's how we've always done it". Peoples habits are changing, and we need to be able to adapt to that and grow with them.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my career, I've learned that the things that I value the most are culture, collaboration, and authenticity. Who you surround yourself with in a work setting will determine where you can and will go with your career. If you are part of a team who values collaboration and teamwork, your future opportunities can expand exponentially. People that value you for who you are and what you genuinely bring to the table allows you to not only be yourself, but also learn things about yourself that you may have never know. Never shrink for anyone, or try to be someone you're not. It's the quickest way to feel "stuck" in your career.

From a personal perspective, everything I do is for my family. Ensuring my kids see the value of hard work is something I hope I'm doing right! Put in the effort to things you care about in life, and for me - that's my husband, 4 children, and 3 dogs! Work will always be there, but let yourself remember - to some people you're irreplicable. Enjoy the little moments at home (with family, friends, etc.).
