Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kelli

01What do you attribute your success to?

It's all God. I am a believer, I'm a person of faith, and even just my journey to how I got to where I am now, looking back in a season where, you know, I thought I might not have a job, to not having to miss a day of work or a paycheck in between, you know, my transition. Every... everything, every place I've gone to, every person I've met, every connection I've made, everything that I have, you know, accomplished with my name has only been, you know, because of him, and that is what I attribute.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

It can be kind of tricky to land an event position, whether you're starting out as a coordinator or what have you. So the best thing that I did for myself was put myself out there and try to meet people and talk to people who do this, even signing on to work with a company and events as well, just helping out as an assistant, like on the weekends from time to time, just so that I could really see the ins and outs to gauge, okay, is this something that I'm actually interested in doing? And then, would I be good at it? Because I think that there are people who probably do have passions for it, but there's so much logistics and steps and just details and all the things that go into it, and, you know, some people that's not their strong suit, and that really has to be if this is, you know, what you want to do. So, connecting with other people who are where you want to be, or at least getting that frontline exposure to what events actually are, you know, because it's not all glitz and glam.
