Her Story

About Kellie

Kellie Kinnett recently transitioned her career path after earning an associate's degree from Cincinnati State Community and Technical College in 2025. A member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, she also serves on the Hamilton County Head Start Policy Council since November 2025 and completed an internship with the Ohio Justice and Policy Center. Drawing from her personal experience representing herself in family court to win back custody of her children after a three-year battle with Children's Services, Kellie is working to establish the Family Hope Foundation to provide support and advocacy for families facing similar challenges. She aspires to become an attorney and enter politics and public service, with acceptance to Columbia University as a key next step. Kellie attributes her success to God and an incredible support system, and she values honesty, transparency, and treating others as one would like to be treated. Her advice to young women entering the field is to stay true to oneself and one's values amid turbulence in law and politics.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kellie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God and an incredible support system.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay true to yourself. In law and politics there can be a lot of turbulence. Don't get distracted by that. Stay true to your values.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is corruption within the child welfare system and court system where mistakes are covered up instead of focusing on children's best interests. The opportunity is the ability to change that through growth and reform.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, transparency, and treating others how you want to be treated.
