Kelly Charles-Collins, Esq. is an Orlando-based speaker, attorney, author, and strategic advisor known for her work at the intersection of law, communication, and economic empowerment. With more than two decades of experience as a trial lawyer and former law firm partner, she built a career representing high-stakes employment and corporate litigation matters before transitioning into entrepreneurship and professional speaking full-time. Her legal background also includes work as a public defender, mediator, arbitrator, and certified legal trainer, giving her a deep foundation in persuasive communication and decision-making under pressure.

She is the founder of Speaker Moguls and Octagon Haus, a private economic network designed to help Black women experts monetize their intellectual capital and build sustainable businesses through collaboration, visibility, and strategic positioning. Through these platforms, she focuses on helping professional women—particularly those with corporate, academic, and executive backgrounds—transition from undervalued expertise to high-value “expertpreneurs.” Her philosophy centers on the belief that intellectual capital should be treated as an asset class and that access to the right networks is essential for wealth creation and legacy building.

As a 4x author, TEDx speaker, and media contributor featured across outlets such as Forbes, Fast Company, ABC, NBC, and CBS, she is widely recognized for her thought leadership on authority, influence, and economic empowerment. Her work emphasizes high-stakes communication, leadership development, and reinvention, often delivered through keynotes, trainings, and executive coaching. Across all her ventures, she is driven by a mission to create transformative spaces where women can confidently own their expertise, elevate their voice, and build generational wealth through their knowledge.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to staying aligned with my core purpose of empowering others to step into their greatness by creating safe, inclusive spaces where women can connect, grow, and thrive without judgment. Through intentional research, I recognized a significant gap in support and representation for Black women experts, which led me to establish Octagon House—a private economic network designed to foster collaboration, leverage collective expertise, and build social, financial, and intellectual capital. At the heart of my work is the mission to position intellect as an asset class, ensuring that the value of expertise is recognized, respected, and fairly compensated.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to believe without hesitation that I can do and be anything. That mindset was instilled in me by my mother, who has always been my greatest source of encouragement and confidence. I’ve been fortunate to have a strong support system—my sister as a trusted sounding board who keeps me grounded, my husband as a steady and supportive presence, my son as my driving purpose, and my father as both a proud advocate and thoughtful advisor. Together, they’ve reinforced the importance of self-belief, balance, and staying connected to the people who support and challenge me as I grow.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this space is to develop what I call your “V-Suite”: your Vision, Voice, Visibility, and Value, and to define these on your own terms rather than through others’ expectations. Be discerning about the opinions and information you receive—treat them as data, not direction, and filter everything through your own values and instincts. While traditional paths like education can be valuable, they are not the only way forward, so trust your ideas and the unique opportunities available to you. Most importantly, believe in yourself first—if you’ve been given a vision, it’s because you are capable of executing it, so stay committed and keep moving forward with confidence.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field include the systemic undervaluing of Black and Brown women speakers—particularly the expectation to provide expertise without fair compensation—as well as the lack of business training for corporate women transitioning into entrepreneurship and the limited research and dedicated networks supporting Black women experts. At the same time, there is a significant opportunity to address these gaps by building strong economic networks that empower women to monetize their intellectual capital and strategically leverage shared resources, relationships, and expertise for collective growth.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me, both personally and professionally, center on purpose, empowerment, and authenticity. At my core, I am committed to being a light that helps others step into their greatness by creating safe, judgment-free spaces where women can show up fully, ask questions, and grow with confidence. I believe in practicing what I call “sit, don’t stay”—acknowledging and learning from every moment without becoming stuck in it, and always choosing to move forward. Ultimately, my focus is on helping women recognize their own power, trust their vision, and succeed not only individually but by supporting and uplifting one another.
