Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kelly

01What do you attribute your success to?

Having a great team around me. When you're recruiting, whether you're recruiting corporate, with a company, or you're in a staffing agency, if you don't have a great team around you that can support you and help keep the process going. You can't be successful.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Success is never a straight line. You're going to go up. And you're gonna go down. It will come, but you're always gonna go 3 steps forward, 2 steps back in the process.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Treat every applicant the way you want to be treated. Remember that you were also once on the application side and the interview side. So if you would want that feedback given to you, give that feedback. If you would want that communication, give that communication. If you treat everyone the way that you would want to be treated if you were in their shoes, you'll go far in a recruiting role, because people remember those recruiters. They come back to those recruiters.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Biggest challenge is post-COVID shift where companies now require resumes and interviews for manufacturing roles that previously didn't need them. This makes it harder for candidates without resume experience.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty. Communication. And teamwork. If you can't be honest and communicate about what's going on. We can't work as a team to find a solution. That goes for my home, that goes for work, that goes for anyone that I work with.
