Her Story
About Kelly
I'm building a handcrafted home decor business with my partner Brady, creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that you'll never find anywhere else. What makes our work special is that every piece is truly unique - you're never going to find that same one twice. We're taking a hybrid approach to our business model, establishing ourselves as web-based while also committing to one weekend a month at farmer's markets and outdoor events because we want to interact with people and build rapport that way. We've put together portfolios showcasing the work he's done and the work I've done, and we're excited to be going public with our first outdoor event. This journey hasn't been easy - we experienced a flood in June and lost everything, so we're rebuilding our lives while simultaneously trying to grow this business. The challenges we face are mainly time and financial, trying to make ends meet at home while building something new. But I believe in what we're creating, and I'm committed to offering customers something that nobody else has.

Ten minutes with Kelly
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would have to say it's more like my life story. I've been through a lot, and those experiences have shaped who I am and what I'm building today. My journey, including the challenges I've faced, has contributed to where I am now and the success I'm working toward.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never give up. Reach for the stars. If you want it, you can get it. Don't let anything stop you from pursuing your dreams and goals in this field.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The opportunity in my field is that it's a unique product - there's never the same one, you're never going to find that same one. So for somebody that's looking for something that nobody else has, this is definitely it. The challenges, really, with us, have been time. We're a starting up business, so financial challenges, of course - trying to make ends meet at home, along with trying to grow the business at the same time.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family, togetherness, communication, and understanding are the most important values to me. These principles guide both my personal life and how I approach my work.
