Kelly Stangel-Martin is a seasoned business development executive with more than 34 years of experience driving growth, cultivating strategic partnerships, and leading high-performing teams across both for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Currently serving as Business Development and Account Executive at RK Electrical one of seven business units within RK Industries, LLC she plays an instrumental role in expanding the company’s presence across Colorado and Arizona. While not a technical practitioner in the electrical trades, Kelly leverages decades of executive-level relationship building to open doors, strengthen partnerships, and convert high-level connections into measurable business growth.

Throughout her career, Kelly has worked extensively in traditional sales, inside and outside sales, advertising, and executive sales with C-suite leadership. Her nonprofit leadership roles including Director of Development at Manna Resource Center and Director of Philanthropy at Craig Hospital Foundation centered on what she describes as “business development with a purpose,” aligning corporate partnerships with meaningful community impact. She has led organizations and teams nationwide, serving in senior and executive-level positions where she directed strategy, organized multi-state operations, and guided staff toward ambitious revenue and engagement goals. After years at the VP and executive leadership level, Kelly made a strategic decision to recalibrate her career, seeking greater balance while continuing to contribute at a high level.

Today, Kelly applies her extensive network and executive relationships to fuel growth at RK Electrical, transforming long-standing corporate connections into new opportunities. For example, she has leveraged relationships with executive leaders at Lumen Technologies to create new business pathways for her organization. A graduate of Drake University with dual Master of Arts degrees from Denver Seminary, Kelly is known for her professionalism, strategic insight, and ability to build trust at the highest levels. I attribute my success to hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to continuous learning. Throughout my career, I have remained eager to grow, adapt, and refine my skills, always striving to add value in every role I serve. I also believe that treating others with kindness, respect, and integrity has been foundational to building lasting relationships and earning trust at every level of business. Beyond my professional work, I am passionate about serving in the community and enjoy golfing as a way to build relationships, recharge, and maintain balance.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never be intimidated by others and to truly know my worth. Confidence is not about arrogance—it’s about understanding the value you bring to the table and standing firmly in it. I’ve learned to be proud of my experience, my work ethic, and the results I deliver, while continuing to grow and improve. When you recognize your value and carry yourself with confidence and humility, you create opportunities rather than waiting for them.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering this industry to recognize the influence they carry and to step confidently into leadership opportunities. Lead with integrity, build strong relationships, and understand that your voice and perspective add meaningful value. Develop a quality mindset in everything you do—be intentional, be prepared, and take pride in delivering excellence. When you consistently strive for high standards and remain committed to growth, you not only elevate your own career, but you also help shape the culture and future of the industry around you.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is the ability to build impactful relationships with key decision-makers and strategic partners who can truly influence long-term growth. In an increasingly competitive and fast-paced market, success is less about transactional sales and more about cultivating trust, alignment, and shared vision. Organizations are looking for partners—not just vendors—so there is tremendous opportunity in strengthening corporate partnerships and enhancing business relationships that create mutual value. Those who can authentically connect at the executive level, understand business objectives, and position solutions strategically will continue to drive meaningful growth and sustainable success.

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life center around purpose, excellence, and growth. I am highly goal-driven and committed to producing my very best work in everything I undertake.
