Her Story
About Kelly
Kelly St. Myer is a transformational commercial executive, entrepreneur, humanitarian, author, and visionary leader whose life and career embody resilience, innovation, and purpose-driven impact. As a C-suite executive serving in senior leadership roles across hospitality, real estate, and diversified enterprise portfolios—including Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer—she has led multibillion-dollar growth strategies, generated more than $250 million in enterprise revenue, and built high-performance organizations that integrate sales, marketing, operations, and emerging AI technologies to create sustainable, long-term success.
A recognized trailblazer and influential force in business, Kelly is also the Founder of Welcome To Houston™ and Co-Founder of Precision Plate Academy, a hands-on leadership training school dedicated to developing the next generation of hospitality and tourism professionals through immersive, experience-driven education. Through both ventures, she continues to shape industries by creating platforms rooted in innovation, service excellence, leadership development, and authentic human connection.
Known for her ability to think beyond traditional boundaries, Kelly leads with a rare combination of strategic intelligence, emotional insight, and visionary execution. Her philosophy is simple yet powerful: “If I can see it in my mind, I can hold it in my hand” "Everything is possible." That belief has become the foundation of both her leadership style and her life’s mission.
Kelly’s journey is not only one of professional achievement, but one of extraordinary perseverance, faith, and transformation. Her career began in the medical and dental field before life dramatically shifted when her late-husband suffered catastrophic injuries while serving in Afghanistan. During the same season, Kelly faced her own battle with melanoma and broken heart syndrome. With 4 children, they endured years navigating hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and temporary housing—experiences that profoundly reshaped her understanding of humanity, resilience, and the power of compassion.
Rather than allowing adversity to define her, Kelly transformed pain into purpose. Witnessing firsthand the emotional impact prolonged hospital stays had on military spouses and children inspired her to help launch the Florida chapter of Building Homes for Heroes from nothing more than a community countertop workspace, an unwavering determination, and a vision to serve others. What began as a grassroots effort grew into one of the nation’s most recognized nonprofit movements supporting wounded veterans and their families. Through advocacy efforts reaching the White House, Capitol, Senate, and House of Representatives, she became a powerful voice for military families, helping secure awareness, resources, and meaningful support at both state and federal levels.
Her passion for empowering others extends far beyond the boardroom and philanthropy. Kelly is also an accomplished writer and co-author of educational journals, as well as the creator of a heartfelt series of mindfulness children’s books written for her grandchildren. These deeply personal stories—yet to be published—were created to remind each child of their unique gifts, inner strength, and limitless potential. Rooted in love, mindfulness, self-belief, and emotional empowerment, the books reflect Kelly’s enduring mission to inspire future generations to believe in themselves, overcome obstacles, and understand that they are capable of achieving anything they believe in.
Across every chapter of her life, Kelly has remained committed to building legacy-driven ventures, elevating communities, and inspiring others to transform their lives through mindset, resilience, courage, and intentional action. She believes true leadership is not measured solely by titles or revenue, but by the lives touched, the doors opened for others, and the impact left behind.
Today, Kelly St. Myer Gilchrist stands as a powerful example of what is possible when vision, faith, and perseverance align. Her story is one of overcoming adversity, redefining leadership, and proving that even life’s greatest challenges can become the foundation for extraordinary purpose, influence, and transformation.

Ten minutes with Kelly
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, faith, vision, and an unwavering commitment to personal growth and human connection. My journey has taught me that success is not something that happens overnight, nor is it defined solely by financial achievement or professional titles. True success is built through adversity, self-awareness, continuous evolution, and the courage to keep moving forward even when life tests you in unimaginable ways.
At the core of my success is an entrepreneurial mindset rooted in possibility. I have always believed that if I can conceive something in my mind, I can create it in reality. That belief carried me through some of the most challenging and transformative seasons of my life and became the driving force behind the businesses, initiatives, and opportunities I have built. I never allowed obstacles to define me; instead, I chose to see challenges as opportunities for reinvention, innovation, and growth.
I also attribute much of my success to becoming a lifelong student of both business and humanity. Throughout my personal awakening and professional evolution, I immersed myself in studying philosophy, leadership, psychology, mindfulness, and human behavior. I read countless enlightening books, studied great thinkers, and sought wisdom that expanded my perspective far beyond traditional success metrics. Those experiences transformed not only the way I lead, but the way I understand people, purpose, and the power of mindset. I see myself as a polymath—someone deeply committed to continuous learning, curiosity, and expanding both intellectual and emotional intelligence.
Equally important has been empathy. Some of the greatest lessons in my life came through personal hardship, caregiving, humanitarian work, and witnessing both pain and resilience in others. Those experiences taught me that leadership is not about ego or authority—it is about service, compassion, and the ability to inspire people to believe in themselves. Whether leading organizations, mentoring future leaders, supporting military families, or building hospitality-centered ventures, I have always remained grounded in the belief that authentic human connection is one of the most powerful forces for transformation.
Community involvement and purpose-driven work have also played a significant role in shaping my success. I believe we are called not only to achieve, but to contribute—to leave people, businesses, and communities better than we found them. The work I do has always been deeply connected to impact, empowerment, and legacy.
Finally, mindfulness and intentional living have been essential anchors throughout my journey. Daily practices centered around reflection, gratitude, discipline, and self-awareness have allowed me to maintain clarity, remain focused during adversity, and lead with intention rather than reaction. They remind me that success is not simply about what we accomplish externally, but about the peace, alignment, and purpose we cultivate internally.
Ultimately, I believe my success comes from the ability to transform adversity into purpose, pain into wisdom, and vision into action. My journey has shown me that when faith, resilience, empathy, and intentional action align, there are truly no limits to what we are capable of becoming—or the impact we are capable of making in the lives of others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received was to never allow life’s circumstances to define the limits of my potential. Through every season of my journey—whether in business, personal adversity, leadership, or reinvention.
I have learned that our greatest breakthroughs often emerge from our most difficult moments. Success is not built solely through talent or opportunity; it is built through mindset, resilience, self-awareness, and the courage to continue evolving.
During some of the most transformative periods of my life, I immersed myself in studying great philosophers, thought leaders, and enlightening books that challenged me to think beyond fear, limitation, and survival. That journey sparked a profound awakening within me—one that shifted my perspective not only on business and leadership, but on purpose, humanity, and the power of the mind. I began to understand that true leadership starts within. The way we think, the energy we carry, the beliefs we hold about ourselves, and the way we respond to adversity ultimately shape the lives we create.
One of the most powerful lessons I embraced was the understanding that life does not happen to us—it happens for us. Every challenge carries a lesson, every setback creates an opportunity for growth, and every experience has the potential to refine us into stronger, wiser, and more compassionate leaders if we are willing to learn from it.
I also learned the importance of remaining teachable. No matter how much success we achieve, growth requires humility, curiosity, and the willingness to continuously evolve. The most impactful leaders are not those who believe they know everything, but those who remain open to learning, listening, and expanding their perspective.
Above all, the greatest advice I carry with me is to lead with purpose and authenticity. Do not chase titles, validation, or external definitions of success. Instead, focus on becoming the highest version of yourself—someone who leads with integrity, empathy, vision, and courage. When you align your work with purpose and remain committed to serving others, success becomes far more meaningful because it is rooted not only in achievement, but in impact.
I believe every person has the ability to transform their life when they begin to believe in themselves, trust their inner voice, and recognize that even adversity can become the foundation for extraordinary purpose. Sometimes the very things meant to break us become the catalyst that awakens us to who we were truly meant to become.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to understand that your greatest asset will never be your title—it will always be your relationships, your reputation, and the way you make people feel. Success is built on trust, authenticity, and the connections you nurture along the way. Invest deeply in people, because relationships are the true currency of leadership and long-term success.
I encourage women to become fearless self-starters—women who do not wait for doors to open, but who have the courage to build their own. Some of the greatest opportunities in my life were created during seasons of uncertainty, challenge, and reinvention. Never underestimate the power of initiative, resilience, and believing in yourself before the world does.
Equally important is learning to set ego aside. True leadership is rooted in service. When you remain committed to serving others with excellence, empathy, and integrity, success naturally follows. Whether you are leading a company, building a brand, or supporting a client, always stay focused on creating meaningful outcomes and genuine human connection.
I also believe growth requires continuous learning and the willingness to evolve. Be open to new experiences, unfamiliar roles, and opportunities that challenge you beyond your comfort zone. Every season of life teaches something valuable if you are willing to learn from it.
Most importantly, never lose sight of the impact you can have on others. Stay involved in your community, lead with compassion, and remember that your journey is not only about what you achieve for yourself, but about how many lives you inspire, uplift, and empower along the way. When purpose and perseverance align, there are no limits to what you are capable of becoming.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest challenges facing the hospitality industry today is not simply staffing—it is cultivating individuals who are genuinely committed to service excellence, personal growth, and becoming part of a purpose-driven culture. Many people enter the workforce operating from a place of survival rather than inspiration, often without the mentorship, preparation, or real-world exposure needed to fully understand the depth and opportunity within hospitality leadership.
That challenge is precisely what inspired me to co-found Precision Plate Academy, a hands-on hospitality and tourism leadership training school designed to bridge the gap between education and real-world industry excellence. Traditional learning often focuses heavily on theory and textbook instruction, but hospitality is ultimately a people-centered industry that requires emotional intelligence, adaptability, resilience, and the ability to lead through service. Our mission at Precision Plate is to develop not only skilled professionals, but confident leaders who understand the power of human connection, client experience, and personal accountability.
We are committed to helping individuals discover whether hospitality is truly their calling while equipping them with the mindset, discipline, and practical experience necessary to thrive at the highest level. More importantly, we strive to help people recognize their own potential and inspire them to pursue the greatest version of themselves—both personally and professionally.
At its core, hospitality is about service, empathy, and creating meaningful experiences for others. It requires the ability to set ego aside, remain solution-oriented under pressure, and lead with grace even during challenging moments. While healthy boundaries and respect are essential, true hospitality also requires understanding that every individual we encounter may be carrying burdens we cannot see. Our responsibility is not only to provide a service, but to create an environment where people feel valued, seen, and cared for.
I believe the future of this industry belongs to leaders who can combine operational excellence with emotional intelligence, and who understand that hospitality is not simply a profession—it is a mindset rooted in compassion, resilience, and authentic human connection.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me—both professionally and personally—are integrity, empathy, resilience, service, and legacy.
These are not simply words to me; they are the foundation of how I lead, how I build, how I serve others, and how I navigate life itself. I believe true success is not measured solely by titles, financial achievement, or recognition, but by the lives we impact, the people we uplift, and the legacy we leave behind.
Integrity is at the core of everything I do. I believe your character is your greatest currency. Long after accomplishments fade, people will remember how you treated them, how you showed up during difficult moments, and whether your actions aligned with your values. I strive to lead with honesty, authenticity, accountability, and consistency in every aspect of my life and career because true leadership begins with trust.
Empathy is equally important to me because I have experienced firsthand how powerful compassion and human connection can be during life’s most difficult seasons. Through personal adversity, health challenges, supporting wounded veterans and military families, and building businesses centered around service, I learned that every person is carrying a story we may know nothing about. Leading with empathy allows us to create environments where people feel seen, valued, heard, and inspired. I believe empathy is not weakness—it is one of the greatest strengths a leader can possess.
Resilience has shaped who I am. Some of life’s hardest moments became the very experiences that refined my purpose and strengthened my faith. I have learned that challenges do not define us; how we rise through them does. Resilience is choosing to continue forward with courage, grace, and determination even when the path is uncertain. It is believing that adversity can become the foundation for transformation, growth, and greater purpose.
Service is also deeply rooted in both my professional and personal mission. Hospitality, leadership, and life itself are ultimately about serving others well. Whether mentoring future leaders, supporting communities, building organizations, or simply showing kindness to someone in need, I believe the greatest influence we can have comes from making people feel respected, empowered, and cared for.
Above all, I value legacy. I want my life to stand for something greater than personal success. I want to inspire others to believe in themselves, to rise above their circumstances, and to understand that they are capable of extraordinary things when they lead with faith, integrity, compassion, and perseverance. If my journey teaches anything, I hope it reminds people that even through life’s greatest hardships, there is always purpose waiting to be discovered—and that one person, with vision and heart, truly has the power to make a lasting difference in the world.
