Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kelly

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success 100% to God. Four years ago I was making $12 an hour at Holiday Inn Express, and now I'm excelling in my career by showing up every day, being positive, helpful, and praying constantly. God opens doors if you keep going, have faith and don't give up.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

There's a lot to learn in this growing field where you'll always need person-to-person interaction. Be thankful you get to help people every day, stay positive, be humble, learn all you can, know your role, and get a mentor. Even with AI, HR will always require human interaction.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

After 20 years in management doing HR plus everything else, I finally got the opportunity to transition into HR and now work by someone with 32 years experience, which is an honor.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value people most. I'm a spiritual person who wants others to know peace and live their best life. I aim to pour light into others, stay positive, have integrity, keep my word solid, and be the best person I can be every day.
