About Kelly
Kelly Willis serves as Vice President of Operations at Mid-South Chemical, a family-owned water treatment manufacturer based in Ringgold, Louisiana. She first became involved with the company by developing software to improve internal operations before joining the team full time. Over the past five years, her role has grown to include manufacturing operations, procurement, logistics, quality management, technology, and strategic planning, helping guide the company’s continued growth while leading initiatives that improve efficiency, quality, and long-term sustainability.
Kelly is currently leading the implementation of Mid-South Chemical’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System and is passionate about building systems that create lasting improvements. She believes access to safe drinking water is one of the greatest responsibilities we have and hopes to spend her career advancing quality standards, strengthening accountability, and helping more people understand the critical role water plays in public health, infrastructure, and everyday life.
Outside of work, Kelly is pursuing her private pilot certificate. Flying has become one of her greatest passions because it represents freedom earned through dedication and discipline. She believes the best experiences in life come from stepping outside your comfort zone, embracing challenges, and discovering you’re capable of far more than you imagined.
Recognized as an Influential Woman 2026, Kelly believes great leadership begins with character, integrity, and the courage to think independently. She encourages others to trust themselves, stay curious, and never stop asking questions. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I’d say a combination of trust and opportunity. My boss believed in me, gave me responsibilities that challenged me, and allowed me to learn by doing. That support meant a lot, but I also worked hard to earn that trust. Every new challenge became another opportunity to grow.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was that you have to take risks. Nothing extraordinary happens by staying where you’re comfortable. Every major opportunity in my career has come from stepping into something unfamiliar, trusting the process, and being willing to learn as I go.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women to trust their instincts and never underestimate themselves. Listen carefully, learn constantly, and be strategic in how you navigate challenges. You don’t have to have all the answers, but you should never be afraid to ask the questions that others won’t. Be authentic, stay humble, and let your work speak louder than your words.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in our industry is finding people who combine technical ability with strong customer service, common sense, and a willingness to keep learning. Those qualities are becoming increasingly valuable, especially in a rural area where recruiting can be difficult. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity for companies that invest in innovation, quality, and people. As our industry continues to evolve, organizations that prioritize continuous improvement and truly understand their customers’ needs will be the ones that make the greatest impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is the value that matters most to me. I believe in being honest, taking responsibility for my decisions, and doing what’s right even when it’s difficult. In both business and life, trust is earned through consistency, accountability, and treating people the way they deserve to be treated.

Being part of that mission has given me a profound respect for the responsibility we carry and the importance of doing things the right way, even when no one is watching.
