Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kelsey
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my family and my drive to do better for them. I come from a really tiny town in Oregon, and not everyone made it out of that town, and I want to prove to everyone that you can do hard things. You can get out of your tiny towns can go big, you can do better, you can get a higher education.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Honestly, the best career advice that I've heard is you don't have to have a certain age to start anywhere. That you have a career your whole life in real life that's not what you want, and that's just the way life goes, and that's don't be afraid to start something, no matter where you are in life.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them to try to put themselves out there. It's a hard world to be in, especially as a woman, and to always use your voice, no matter what other people say, that's your biggest factor, and you can get through hard things by staying to yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in the field is schooling opportunities. I could potentially jump on it. They don't align with who I am, and that it's okay to let those pass by to find what you need and what will help you and drive you to be a better person. Opportunities: I see so many across TikTok and Facebook and LinkedIn, and I would say just jump. I applied for an internship thinking, oh, I can get it, and here I am. I got accepted, so I would say just jump. Just do it.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would say my first thought would be family first. I believe you can't do anything without a good system. And then my second one is to always try your best to be as creative as possible, especially with an AI-driven world, you have to really be yourself before you know your computer.
