Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kelsey
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think people believing in me and teaching me how to believe in myself played a big part. A lot of the jobs I had full-time, I was the youngest person they had ever hired. They believed in my work ethic and writing abilities, which gave me the confidence to believe in myself and know my worth, ultimately allowing me to charge my worth when I went out on my own.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
It's a little cliche, but if you're the smartest one in the room, you're in the wrong room. There's always people to learn from, and career is always a place of growth. You should never be at the top, there's always places to go still and things to learn, and you should always be learning. That's a big reason why I went freelance or out on my own to run my own business.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Started in photography two years ago
So I am doing that now as well. Its more of a side service, but Im doing a lot of branding photography.
For small businesses?
And I am just now getting into real estate photography as well
So that kind of lets me bring out my more creative side, since I do a lot of B2B writingIt's not very creative in nature
So, its been really fun. I moved to Boise two years ago and dont know many people here, and so it's been a fun way to meet people and get… feel more connected in the community.
I do some free shoots as well for people who can't
afford them, and do some volunteer event photography for some organizations here as well.
