About Kelsey
Kelsey Ratcliffe brings over 15 years of law enforcement experience to her work in workplace violence prevention. She served as a patrol officer, child abuse detective, hostage negotiator, and rose to the rank of Lieutenant, becoming the first female promoted to that level under the current administration. After a period of self-reflection, she retired from law enforcement and founded KR Profiling and Analysis, where she conducts threat assessments and delivers workshops and speaking events focused on recognizing warning signs and behavioral risks, preventing workplace violence, and teaching de-escalation techniques. She also engages in physical security sales for commercial entities. Ratcliffe holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's degree in psychology, along with a certification in chemical dependency and obsessive-compulsive disorders. She is partway through her doctorate in psychology, completed police academy training, and earned an HCR20 certification for threat assessment. She attributes her success to straight grit in believing in herself and pushing through obstacles. Ratcliffe advises getting through the first year of new endeavors and, when new, shutting up and listening to absorb information from others.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kelsey
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to straight grit in everything. Grit in believing in myself, grit in being able to work through obstacles, and just pushing through. Straight grit.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I received was to just get through the first year, give it time to figure out and settle, whether with a new child or starting a business. Also, when you're new, just shut up and listen. Absorb what's around you because you're not learning anything if you're the one talking.
