About Kendra

I started Awakening Voices in 2024 as a survivor-led organization to break cycles of domestic violence. After working in shelters like Atlanta Missions and with DFACS, and surviving 16 years of abuse myself, I realized resources were not known to many. My goal is to provide free support, safe housing, counseling and advocacy so survivors know they are not alone. I partner with United Way, Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You're not alone. We have failed to acknowledge the severity and understand the dynamics of domestic violence. You have time to regain control over your life. Do not fear for your child's safety. We are breaking the silence and organizations like mine are here to help. You will one day have your voice again.
