Dr. Kendra Mayes: Speaker: Dr. Kendra Mayes , CEO and Founder, Kingdom FitnessWhat advice would you share with women about protecting their mental wellbeing while navigating the pressures of life, work, & success?Dr. Kendra Mayes : Hi ladies, this is Doctor Kendra, your transformational coach, and listen, when it comes to protecting your mental well-being and navigating the pressure of life, professional development, your work performance and success, these are 3 principles that I live by, and these principles have guided me well over 15 years, and what they have helped me to do is to avoid. Burnout and unnecessary stress and to maximize my personal and professional development. And the three principles have been your health. Listen ladies, I want to encourage you as professional women to take care of your whole self and what do by that? I want you to fuel your body with food that's good, protein, a healthy fats, fiber, nutritional. Things such as your green leafy vegetables, all of those things are gonna give you the proper fuel that you need to make better decisions, to avoid fatigue and daily crashes, to reduce that cortisol spike, and to help you to perform at an optimum, optimum level. And then of course, I want to encourage you to move your body with intention. Somebody shall move as a professional woman. I want to encourage you because you often wear many hats. You are mothers, you're teachers, you're advocates, your friends, your sisters, your partners, your wives, you're all the things, right? And so I wanna encourage you to master this theory called a micro workout and what that means is use your time wisely, you can. Do a chair workout, you can take a quick walk on your break, you can do squats. Listen, while your food is warming up, you can keep your tennis shoes at your desk. You can invest in some five-pound weights. You can go to the park with your children, you can walk your dog at night. Listen, there are all types of ways to incorporate. Moving with intention so that you can do what? Minimize that stress, you can change the channel of your mind, you can get the vitamin D that you need that helps you to boost your mood and have mental clarity and to restore joy back into your day. The second principle I live by is faith. Somebody shout faith, listen ladies, you need to have what I have coined as fill your cup moments throughout the day. Whether it is a Positive affirmation or a podcast. Whether it is listening to inspirational songs or just simply meditating, you have to take the time to fill your cup. Why? We are in high ranking positions. We have a lot of energy that we are expending on a daily basis and much like your bank account or much like your vehicle, it is very difficult for them to run at optimum levels when they're on empty. Come on now. You already know that you cannot withdraw from a negative bank account. And so I want to encourage you to stop operating from a deficit, but take small opportunities to fill your cup up, to keep your motivations high, to reduce self-sabotage, to reduce thinking, thinking, to re-channel your energy, to center yourself, and to pour into yourself. And then the third principle that I live by. I definitely time management, shout boundaries. As professional women, you must set boundaries. Self-care is not selfish, and in the fitness world, we have a tagline that says, if you don't schedule it, it won't happen. And so I wanna encourage you on today to use your Google Calendar, use your time management strategies to schedule the class, to schedule the vacation, to schedule the. Uninterrupted family time. Take the time to schedule, your workout sessions. Take the time to schedule a rest day. No shame, no guilt, no apology, but take care of you. Schedule the things that are important to you and condition those around you to respect your time and your professional boundaries. Listen, I just wanna push you to be happy, healthy and whole. I wanna push you to be great. Peace.

Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dr. Kendra
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith, the strong work ethic instilled in me by my parents, and my resilience. I’ve learned to persist through challenges and not accept “no” as a final answer when pursuing meaningful goals.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is that success is not a linear journey. I would encourage them to focus on mastering their unique gift, maintaining a growth mindset, and avoiding comparisons with others’ paths. Persistence and adaptability are essential, as progress often comes through challenges and unexpected turns.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field include stereotyping and restrictive expectations placed on African American women, along with issues such as bullying, miscategorization, and systemic barriers that can limit growth and opportunity. Despite these challenges, there are strong opportunities to create meaningful impact through coaching, speaking, and faith-based branding, which allow me to help transform environments, empower others, and support individuals in breaking through glass ceilings and reaching their full potential.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, a strong work ethic, and resilience. I also prioritize authenticity, confidence balanced with humility, and a deep commitment to serving others in a meaningful and impactful way.
