About Kendra
Kendra Okereke serves as the Community Engagement Director for Olive Crest in the Los Angeles region. In this role, she oversees three departments: church partnerships to engage congregations in caring for foster children and vulnerable families, the teen drop-in center providing a safe space with resources for youth ages 13 through 17 and those transitioning from foster care, and the hosting program, which offers short-term volunteer placements to prevent children from entering foster care during family crises. After studying film at a college in upstate New York and moving to Los Angeles shortly after graduation, she built an 11-and-a-half-year career in entertainment across reality television, casting, and development, including a position at Starz. Feeling stagnant in her previous roles at the assistant coordinator level, she made a career change nine months ago, drawn by her long-held desire to foster and adopt as well as her church's partnership with the organization. She approaches her work with a focus on forming connections, maintaining a servant's heart, and operating from a generous spirit in all areas of life.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn as much as you can and talk to as many people as possible in various roles. Form connections because every person you talk to will have an impact. Have a servant's heart and be willing to give your time, talents, and treasures selflessly to help others without expecting anything in return.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Flowing from a generous heart in all areas - time, talents, gifts, and finances. Being Christ-like by loving others the way Christ loved, operating with kindness, generosity, and patience without being duplicitous across different areas of life.
