Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the power of a single choice and the journey that followed. For me, that choice came in high school when I began volunteering as a pharmacy technician at Kaiser Hospital. As the first in my family to attend college, I balanced family responsibilities while dreaming of a future that would allow me to provide for my loved ones and build my own independence. Although I initially considered accounting, life led me in a different direction. After earning my associate’s degree from City College, I discovered my true calling in private schools—a field that has been both my classroom and my playground for over two decades. My career journey has been defined by growth, patience, and perseverance. I started in data entry and bookkeeping at a private school, mastering accounts payable and receivable while navigating a variety of complex tasks. Over the years, I became one of the longest-serving employees, learning firsthand the value of faith, determination, and a positive mindset. Being underestimated—whether by colleagues, family, or even myself—became a source of motivation to achieve both independence and professional respect. One of the most rewarding aspects of my career is the knowledge and experience I’ve gained, which I now share through giving back to the community and supporting community initiatives. Honors like Latino recognition awards and accolades from City College are humbling reminders that hard work and consistency are noticed. Yet, my greatest achievement is not the awards—it is the opportunity to turn passion into purpose every day. Education transformed me, not only by equipping me with technical skills but also by strengthening my communication, professionalism, and confidence.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The school teachers and counselors play a big role in helping giving the best advice since they want the best education possible and see successful students. So I am thankful what I received. I listen the advise they gave me and put into practice and see what I can accomplish in my circumstances.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the workforce is to pursue a path that genuinely excites them, rather than settling for a career that leaves their potential untapped. Loving what you do is not a luxury—it’s a strategy for success, fulfillment, and lasting impact. I can always tell when someone isn’t enjoying their work, because it shows in their attitude. Maintaining a positive mindset is essential; when you love what you do, it never truly feels like work. Focus on positivity, embrace challenges, and let your passion guide your career.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are faith, perseverance, and hard work. I deeply believe in the power of a positive mindset and in pursuing work that aligns with one’s passions, rather than settling for convenience or expectation. Family and community are central to my life, shaping my decisions and inspiring me to give back through mentorship and charitable contributions.

I view education as transformative—not just for acquiring skills, but for building confidence, professionalism, and strong communication. Above all, I value independence and resilience, seeing challenges and being underestimated not as setbacks, but as opportunities for growth and achievement. Honors such as Latino recognition awards serve as humbling reminders of the impact of dedication, consistency, and living by one’s values.
