Ten minutes with Kenika
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my willingness to continuously learn, adapt, and support others. Working in dental technology has allowed me to combine my knowledge of dental operations with my passion for helping people understand and effectively use technology.
I believe my success comes from being a strong problem-solver, staying curious, and taking the time to understand the needs of both the users and the organizations I support. Whether I am training a team, troubleshooting an issue, or helping with an implementation, I focus on building relationships, providing clear guidance, and finding solutions that create a positive impact.
I have also been fortunate to work with great teams and organizations that have challenged me to grow professionally. My commitment to learning, attention to detail, and dedication to helping others succeed have been key factors in my career growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to stay teachable and remain open to learning. No matter how much experience you gain, there is always an opportunity to grow, learn something new, and improve.
Throughout my career, especially in dental technology and software support, I have learned that being willing to listen, ask questions, and adapt to change is what helps you continue to move forward. Technology is constantly evolving, and staying curious allows me to continue developing my skills while better supporting the teams and organizations I work with.
I believe success comes from not assuming you know everything, but instead approaching each opportunity with a willingness to learn, share knowledge, and grow alongside the people around you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I would give to young women entering this industry is to keep pushing, build meaningful connections, and be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Growth often happens when you take opportunities that may feel unfamiliar or challenging.
Do not be afraid to have the conversations that feel awkward at first. Those moments often lead to valuable connections, new opportunities, and relationships with people who will remember your name and the impact you made. Networking is not just about meeting people; it is about building genuine relationships and showing up authentically.
Most importantly, believe in yourself, stay curious, and continue learning..
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is the continued growth of technology and the ability to help shape the future of how things operate. I also see the importance of having more diversity and representation within the industry. There are not a lot of people who look like me in dental technology and software, and I believe it is important to continue showing up, building connections, and being a positive example for others.
With technology constantly evolving, there are so many opportunities to learn, innovate, and make an impact. I’m excited to be part of an industry that continues to grow and to help encourage others who may not always see themselves represented in this space..
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are family, integrity, kindness, and always continuing to grow. Family has always been a strong foundation for me and reminds me of the importance of supporting others, showing up, and building meaningful relationships.
In my work, I value being dependable, helping others succeed, and creating positive connections with the people around me. I believe in treating people with respect, listening, and being someone others can count on.
I also value staying teachable and open to learning. Whether it is in my career or personal life, I believe there is always an opportunity to grow, gain new perspectives, and become better. Staying humble, continuing to learn, and being willing to adapt have helped shape who I am today.
