Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kennedie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have a really good support system right now, like my family has always backed me up with whatever I've needed. That's rare and I'm very lucky to have that. Because of that, I've been able to quit my day job to fully focus on building my career, and I would not be able to do that if I didn't have a good support system.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I think it's knowing your worth and sticking to it. There's a lot of people out here, especially with the social media world, that think that you can get handouts. You have to understand what you can and cannot do, and how you can put a price tag to it, and you keep that standard for yourself and others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell her to make sure that she has her structure and her outline worked out as best that she can, and be flexible to adjusting it to her lifestyle and knowing her worth in it then sticking to it. And it's not to be mean, it's not to put anyone down, it's that you need to be headstrong in a professional way for people to take you seriously. It shows that you're good at it, and it's your passion, it makes you happy.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say that it's finding other jobs, other clients that take me seriously, as a woman and as a young woman, that's another layer of difficulty that I have had with most work in my life. but especially working remotely as well.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

professionally-wise, and I guess personally-wise, too, it kind of goes hand-in-hand, is structure and staying true to yourself. I'm very heavily focused on both. It's just been extremely helpful for me personally, in life, and professionally as well.
