Kenya Austin is the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations at Skokie School District 68 in Skokie, Illinois, where she began her tenure in July 2024. In this role, she manages the district's finances, including the annual budget and tax levy, while also overseeing staffing through human resources, operations, transportation, and safety. Austin has directed more than $30 million in construction projects, including the development of a $17.5 million early childhood center that incorporates geothermal energy systems and planned solar panels. She has supported enhancements to the district's multilingual programs to serve a diverse community speaking over 60 languages and has advanced technology initiatives such as one-to-one Apple devices and updated classroom systems. Prior to her current position, Austin pursued studies in accounting, beginning at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte and completing her degree at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois.
