Her Interview

Ten minutes with Keshia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to discipline and a strong belief that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. I was raised by my father, who instilled confidence in me from an early age and taught me to believe in myself, stay committed to my goals, and persevere through challenges.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to lead by example. When you’re responsible for leading people, you should never ask them to do something you haven’t done yourself or are not willing to do. I believe effective leadership requires accountability, humility, and a willingness to work alongside your team.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to let your voice be heard through your experience, your expertise, and the value you bring to your craft. Believe in your abilities and recognize that what is meant for you cannot be taken away by someone else. Never feel that you need permission to claim your place at the table; when you have earned that seat, know that it is already yours.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

WIth the enhancements to AI, learning and development professionals are tasked with identifying ways to leverage AI to enhance speed to delivery, impact and more. However, AI requires human validation to ensure accuracy and relevance. This can be challenging for learning and development professionals with smaller teams, limited resources, or limited AI governance.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are discipline, confidence, integrity, and a commitment to doing my best. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active and making time for the things I love, especially sports. I am a passionate basketball fan and, more specifically, a Celtics fan. I enjoy watching basketball games in person, as well as following football and track. I also appreciate live music and concerts, and living in the valley gives me the opportunity to enjoy wine tasting. These interests help me maintain balance, stay connected with others, and make time for experiences that bring me joy.
