About Kia
I started my consulting practice about 4 or 5 months ago, but my career in business spans over 20 years, with 80-90% of it spent managing and scaling manufacturing-based companies with revenues of 100-plus million. Before consulting, I spent 7 years in manufacturing, serving as CFO of Maxco for about 6 years and then as their vice president for a little over a year. I am a licensed CPA with a master's of tax, and I also completed legal coursework with the Colleges of Law of Ventura, coming within two semesters of a JD before I decided to leave the program. As a consultant, I work with clients on everything from financial to operational and growth strategies. While I have the credentials and expertise for general accounting, bookkeeping, and cost optimization, I'm finding that most of my requests are for scaling operations and operational efficiencies rather than traditional finance or accounting work. What drives my success is hard work, curiosity, perseverance, and genuinely caring about the job and the people around me. Character and integrity are huge for me - that's what I look for when I select jobs, opportunities, and even how I select my friends and my circle.

The best career advice I've ever received is 'Trust But Verify.' This principle has guided me throughout my career and helped me navigate complex business situations.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say show up every day and put in your best effort. Stay curious and be intentional about your role. Don't chase the money or title too hard, because generally, when you work hard, you get there. It's about consistency, effort, and genuine engagement with your work rather than focusing solely on external rewards.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Character and integrity are huge for me. That's what I look for when I select jobs and opportunities, and that's how I select my friends and my circle.
