Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the resilience I developed through the challenges and adversity I experienced growing up. Those experiences taught me perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of maintaining a growth mindset. Rather than allowing obstacles to define me, I chose to learn from them, using each challenge as an opportunity for personal and professional growth. That ability to turn adversity into motivation has shaped my character, strengthened my leadership, and continues to drive my commitment to achieving meaningful goals.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that you can do anything difficult for two years if it brings you closer to the career and life you envision. That perspective taught me the value of perseverance, reminding me that short-term sacrifices can lead to long-term fulfillment. It has encouraged me to keep moving forward, stay focused on my goals, and remain committed to building a career that allows me to make a meaningful difference and give back to those in need.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to believe in your potential and never place limits on what you can achieve. You do not have to choose between building a fulfilling career and having a family—you can define success on your own terms. Women are multifaceted, resilient, and capable of excelling in many roles. With determination, hard work, and confidence in your abilities, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to and create a life that reflects your personal and professional aspirations.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or insurance coverage. Many individuals, particularly those in rural or underserved communities, face significant barriers to receiving timely and equitable care. This is especially evident in maternal health, where disparities continue to impact women and families. Addressing these inequities is a cause I am deeply passionate about, and I am committed to advocating for greater access, improved resources, and more inclusive healthcare systems that better serve all communities.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are family and servant leadership. My family is my greatest source of strength and inspiration, motivating me to pursue excellence while maintaining perspective and balance. I also believe that true leadership is rooted in serving others with compassion, humility, and integrity. By putting people first and striving to make a meaningful impact, I aim to build trust, empower those around me, and contribute positively to my community and profession.
