Her Story

About Kiana

I reentered the workforce by taking a seasonal, temporary job as a sales associate in November 2025. They were very pleased with my performance, so after about 4 months I was promoted to the sales leader supervisor position. The job was originally supposed to end in January, so I'm thankful that I'm still employed. In my typical day, I perform daily opening procedures to ensure the store opens at 11 a.m., once the store opens and other employees are there, I handle point-of-sale responsibilities, merchandising when necessary, also completing the processing of internal reports as needed, as well as making the proper tickets for merchandise to be tagged, and any training or assistance that needs to be done with employees. Throughout most of my career before this current retail position, I worked in offices for government service agencies and a state office in different roles. I've held varied positions including insurance healthcare rep II, provider enrollment rep, claims adjuster, internal auditor, rate calculation technician, assistant manager and many different types of customer service positions. I've had leadership roles throughout my career, and sometimes I did not get the title but I still was doing the work as a supervisor or a team leader. That is my strength, and I can say that very confidently. I graduated from Kean University in New Jersey with a BA in Economics. I was also a licensed agent specializing in life and health insurance, though I chose to leave that position because the office was an hour away and they changed requirements from one day a week in office to 5 days a week, taking into consideration the distance to the office and the commission only contract I was working under, this opportunity was no longer viable. Now I have a job offer and I'm in the process of obtaining my license to become a producer again, for life only this time, in addition to my current role.
