Her Story
About Kiemera
I've been in recruiting and human resources for almost 10 years. I started my career by earning my associate's degree from Wake Tech, one of the top-rated local community colleges, which set a good foundation for me. I also received certifications in international business from Wake Tech. I used my retail, marketing, and sales skills to transition into human resources after taking a human workforce manager course that really sparked my interest in recruiting and HR. Later, I decided to pursue my bachelor's degree in business administration with UNC Pembroke while working full-time, which I'm still currently working on. Last year, in May 2025, I earned my PHR certification while balancing full-time work and continuing my education, and I was able to pass it on the first try, which I'm really proud of. I plan to get other certifications in the future, such as my PMP for project management. Currently, I'm working a contract role with Yardi since December, and I'm open to new opportunities after being part of recent layoffs. I'm really trying to get into healthcare recruiting as well as continue on in tech recruiting. I've gained experience in SaaS (software as a service) tech recruiting and higher education recruiting. During my time at Wolf Speed, I received a Teamwork and Collaboration Award in March 2024 and an Ingenuity and Passion Award in 2023. I'm currently in the early discovery phase of potentially starting my own business and doing the networking work, which is new for me but something I'm really proud of myself for doing.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I believe in leading with empathy and with a human mindset. I know we all love AI, but I love great leaders - those are definitely always needed. My favorite part of my work is making offer calls because I get to help change people's lives, especially when they're in a bad situation and want to move out of it. That human connection and the ability to make a real difference in someone's life is what drives me.
