Kim Apodaca is a fashion stylist with 20 years of experience based in Los Angeles, California. Originally from South Africa, she earned degrees in finance and industrial psychology before moving to Los Angeles to enroll in an acting program. During her studies, she discovered the power of clothing to change physiology and perception, leading her to a career in styling after working as an assistant in the entertainment industry. She provides personal styling services to high-net-worth professionals, helping clients identify their personal brand and create authentic looks aligned with their lifestyle rather than trends. Apodaca also coaches other stylists, leveraging her business background to help them build their practices, and is affiliated with South Coast Plaza in Orange County where she sources collections for clients. Her typical day includes coaching sessions, brand meetings, sourcing in Beverly Hills and Orange County, client fittings, and workshops. She maintains a personal goal of transforming a million lives through style by 2035.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Everything we hear is opinion, and everything we see is merely a perspective. When working with clients in different moods or self-doubts, remember that is just their opinion for right now.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
People think stylists are personal shoppers. A real stylist walks alongside the client to identify their personal brand and behavior, creating looks that feel authentic to their lifestyle rather than following trends.
