Grego advises continuing to learn and develop, being a sponge for knowledge from a young age, and always being willing to learn new things while investing in personal development, advice she extends especially to young women entering the field. She describes the restaurant industry as fast-paced yet rewarding, emphasizing the need to keep moving forward.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kim
01What do you attribute your success to?
One of my mantras right now is influence through experience. Being a tenured team member, just helping each other, helping new team members through the day-to-day. We can't do it alone, so doing it as a village is one of our mantras, takes a village.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always continue to learn and develop. Even my mother taught me from a young age, just be a sponge and learn as much as you can. And just never stop learning from each other.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always be willing to learn new things. And always invest in developing yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
We are a fast-paced industry, so, just really continuing to move forward and, you know, always, you know, staying with that. We, you know, we're always, we're always saying, all gas, so we, we just continue to move forward. It is fast-paced, but, very rewarding at the same time.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty. Loyalty, to an extent, and... just... coming through on your word, I guess? Like, You know, staying true to yourself, and then, you know. you know, backing up, what you can, you know, either communicate or, ask someone else to do, so really that, you know, coming through for each other, I think.
