Her Story

About Kimberley

I started out in surgery as a surgical assistant because I loved being in the OR. After a bad car accident injured my back and neck, I couldn't continue with the physical demands. Seeing family members pass without adequate insurance coverage inspired me to enter the insurance field to help people. I began with life insurance at Globe Life and American Income Life, quickly becoming one of the top new agents. I advanced to managing agent and underwriter, then moved into health insurance with Alite Health where my medical background helped with underwriting stop loss and level-funded plans. For the past two years, I've been doing AI training in insurance, which I find groundbreaking and innovative.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Keep an open mind and research the different sub-branches of the field. Don't focus only on your main role because there are so many other sub-branches that need individuals to fill them. For example, while in underwriting I've branched into AI training, stop loss, and other areas.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The insurance and finance industry was long male-dominated, but women now have a voice and hold influential positions like CEO, head underwriter, and admin roles. Younger women have more opportunities than before due to the groundwork laid by previous generations of women.
