Influences isn't just what you achieve, but how many people are better because you showed up for them. And to the younger women chasing their dreams, my advice to you. Is the first person you speak life into every day is yourself.

Kimberly Bolden: To the young women that are chasing their dreams, my advice to you is every day you wake up, the first person you speak life into, give encouragement to, make a difference in their world is yourself.

About Kimberly
Kimberly Bolden is an accomplished Admissions Counselor at the University of South Alabama, where she has been shaping student experiences for over three years. Beginning her journey in higher education with a commitment to self-reflection and personal growth, Kimberly has cultivated a career dedicated to guiding prospective students through the admissions process. In her dual role, she manages administrative responsibilities in the office while actively recruiting students at various events, combining organization, outreach, and mentorship to support student success.
Kimberly’s educational journey reflects her determination and resilience. She earned her Associate of Science in Education from Bishop, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education from the University of South Alabama. Along the way, she was recognized by the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success, accomplishments that underscore her dedication to scholarship, leadership, and lifelong learning. Notably, earning her associate degree amidst personal trials demonstrated her perseverance and affirmed her capability to overcome challenges.
Beyond her professional life, Kimberly is an active and creative individual. She is a talented pianist and a passionate participant in her church’s music ministry. An avid cyclist, she enjoys exploring her local surroundings on her 10-speed bike, finding inspiration and relaxation in outdoor activity. Cooking serves as a therapeutic outlet, and her love for local travel allows her to continually discover new facets of her community. Kimberly also gives back through volunteer work with Little Sisters of the Cloth and has been recognized six times as Director of the Year by VOGMA for her contributions to music ministry, reflecting her commitment to leadership and service.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the favor of God.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received came from my father. He told me, "When you look in the mirror, you should see beauty." He emphasized that while external appearance may catch the eye, it is your inner beauty—your character, integrity, and the way you treat others—that truly matters. This lesson has guided me not only in my career but in life, reminding me to focus on cultivating qualities that have lasting impact.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering my industry to always be eager to learn and expand their skills. Upholding high integrity and strong ethics in every situation is essential, as it builds trust and respect. And most importantly, stay resilient—keep moving forward, even when challenges arise, and never lose sight of your goals.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunity in my field at this time is making sure to positively impact students.
