							Kimberly Brannon is an accomplished Interior Design Supervisor and Construction Project Manager with over three decades of experience in architecture, interior design, and facilities management. She holds a BS in Architecture from Howard University and currently leads a team of interior designers and project managers at the Library of Congress (LOC), overseeing complex facility planning, design, and construction projects across historical, public, and occupied buildings. Her expertise spans project strategy, stakeholder management, contract administration, and adherence to regulatory and code requirements, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Prior to her tenure at the LOC, Kimberly held leadership positions at Northrop Grumman Information Systems, where she managed high-profile office relocations and consolidations for over 5,000 employees, executed complex construction projects, and achieved substantial cost savings through strategic resource allocation. She began her career with roles at Arbee Associates and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), developing space planning solutions, managing interior construction projects, and implementing furniture standards programs that enhanced operational efficiency and employee experience.
Highly skilled in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Visio, as well as project management methodologies, space planning, purchasing, and corporate relocations, Kimberly is known for her organizational acumen, adaptability, and goal-oriented approach. She is committed to delivering high-quality design and construction solutions while mentoring and inspiring her teams. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my curiosity and eagerness to learn new things, which continually drives me to expand my skills and take on new challenges. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, gardening, and cooking, activities that inspire creativity, provide balance, and enrich both my personal and professional life.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be consistent, stay focused, and be kind, while never being afraid to try new things. I’ve found that embracing this approach has helped me grow professionally, build strong relationships, and seize opportunities for innovation and development.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the architecture and design industry is to recognize that your opinion matters don’t hesitate to voice it. Sharing your ideas confidently not only contributes to better projects but also helps establish your presence and credibility in the field.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest opportunities in my field right now is the chance to collaborate with talented professionals while working in some of the most beautiful historical spaces. This work fuels my passion for design and project management, and I find that the more I engage in it, the more that passion continues to grow.
