She has spent her entire career in healthcare, beginning in collections and billing roles immediately after high school and advancing through on-the-job training and formal education. She has held the Director of Revenue Cycle title for six years, overseeing physician group revenue cycle operations that encompass payer enrollment, medical coding and billing, claims entry, payment posting, denials management, and customer service until accounts reach zero balance. Dziekan earned an Associates of Science from Sinclair Community College and a Bachelor's of Science in Organizational Leadership from Wright State University in 2017 after a period of pre-med studies and a career shift to the administrative side of healthcare. She maintains teaching, coding, and auditing certifications and serves as adjunct faculty at Clark State Community College and Edison State Community College, where she instructs on medical coding, electronic health records, and certification exam preparation. Her professional affiliations include founding officer status with the AAPC Dayton chapter since 2009, advisory board roles with Clark State, Edison State, and Ross College, and membership on the CGS Medicare Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Committee and Compliance Committee. She volunteers with Relay for Life through the American Cancer Society, Heart Walks, and Habitat for Humanity. Dziekan attributes her success to a lifelong desire to learn and grow, remaining curious and positive while finding value in every experience. She advises young women entering healthcare to identify their niche, build networks, seek mentors, and pursue opportunities for development even without immediate title or compensation.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kimberly
01What do you attribute your success to?
I have a desire to learn and grow. I'm not a very complacent person. I pick a word every year to focus on. I attribute my success to continuing to learn and grow, be exploratory, curious, have fun with it, be positive, try to stay above the line, and see the value in every experience even if negative at the time.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Everyone has a place and strengths. Find your niche and excel in that area. Be an expert in what you're passionate about. It may take starting in a less desirable position to get into an organization. Build your network and look for mentors. Always work for the job you want, not the one you have. Take opportunities to learn and grow even without immediate pay or title.
