Her Story

About Kimberly

Kimberly Ferguson is an author, poet, and aspiring youth peer specialist whose work is rooted in resilience, faith, and personal transformation. She discovered her passion for writing through poetry, recognizing it as a gift that allowed her to express hope, healing, and encouragement. Over the past 13 years, she has expanded her writing into memoir and inspirational literature, publishing three books: Surviving Life's Storms Victoriously, Transform and Inform, and Poems That Bring World Healing. She is also working on a children's Christmas book, with illustrations currently in development, while preparing to complete her certification as a youth peer specialist.

Drawing from her own life experiences, Kimberly has dedicated her work to inspiring others who face adversity. Her journey includes surviving the challenges of life in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina, enduring miscarriages, the loss of a newborn son, living with bipolar disorder, overcoming breast cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic, and raising her family as a single mother. She also studied psychology at the college level and completed the required exit examination, strengthening her understanding of mental health and personal growth. Prior to pursuing writing full-time, she spent five years working with children, further reinforcing her passion for mentoring and supporting young people.

Today, Kimberly lives in Huntsville, Alabama, with her two children and her dog, Coco. Guided by her Christian faith, she leads a ministry devoted to encouraging women from all walks of life—whether single, married, divorced, or widowed—to embrace self-worth, independence, and spiritual growth. She believes honesty, authenticity, and obedience to God are the foundation of a fulfilling life, and her books reflect that conviction by offering hope, healing, and practical encouragement. Through her writing, advocacy, and future work as a youth peer specialist, Kimberly remains committed to empowering individuals to overcome life's challenges and discover their own strength and purpose.

Ten minutes with Kimberly

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have a mindset where I write down my goals and put them on my refrigerator to get a visual. Writing is a gift from the Lord. My son is the reason I keep going, and I had to break the generational cycle in my family by being independent.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Keep showing up daily authentically

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to believe in yourself, build strong self-esteem, and know who you are. Confidence and self-awareness will help you navigate challenges and achieve your goals.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Not generating book sales and not working with artists who can compensate me for my writing ability

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me in both my work and personal life are honesty and authenticity. I believe in being genuine, acting with integrity, and staying true to who I am in every situation.
