Her Story

About Kimberly

Kimberly Fleming has worked in the banking industry for 15 years, with her current employer for nearly that entire time. In her role since March, she oversees reviews of military customer accounts to confirm correct benefits are applied across credit cards, auto loans, investment accounts, and other products. She previously spent a year and a half handling escalations for the executive office, managing complaints from sources such as the CFPB and Better Business Bureau. Her career path began in collections, moved through retail credit card customer service and escalations, foreclosure processes, eight years in mortgage including applications, processing, and refinances, and commercial banking before transitioning to operations. Fleming's main areas of expertise are customer service and escalations, where she ensures both external customers and internal partners receive support. She participates in her employer's mentor-mentee program annually and provides resume assistance to colleagues. She attributes her professional success to her children, who motivate her to persist through challenges. Fleming advises young women entering banking to raise their hand for help when needed and to keep moving forward. She is proud of her selection for a virtual panel on women's health and work-life balance, and she aims to advance into formal mentorship and leadership roles within employee networks.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kimberly

01What do you attribute your success to?

My kids. They're teaching me not to give up. They're pushing me to make sure I keep thriving to my best abilities, and not when things get hard at work, it's not the end of things. Just keep going.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be scared to raise your hand. If you don't feel comfortable about doing a job that somebody assigns you, you're not sure, raise your hand and ask for help. There's never a wrong answer. If somebody can answer the question and help you, if neither one of you can find an answer, you guys work together to find an answer. But always continue to move forward. Don't let small things scare ya.
