About Kimberly
I've been working in media for 19 years, and I've always maintained my own business throughout that time, even while taking on other roles. As an award-winning journalist and television producer, I produce the news feed for major events like the Kentucky Derby and the Breeders' Cup. I served as an executive editor of a major trade publication that's more than 100 years old, winning awards both as an editor and as a writer. I've also worked as a production manager and in various other capacities. My responsibilities are extensive - I cold call people for interviews who have no idea who I am, run budgets for productions, produce my own content, meet deadlines, pitch stories, and develop relationships. I also taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Louisville, a public university. Recently, my career took an unexpected turn when I was terminated and forced to resign from my human resources position with the federal government when the administration changed, and I also lost my teaching position due to federal funding issues. After a serious injury three years ago, I didn't want to return to full-time field work or be on a plane every week anymore, so I've been trying to transition. I obtained my AI course certification and earned both health and life insurance licenses, and I'm currently deciding which insurance companies to work with while freelancing. The past year has been challenging as I've been struggling to find stable work, but I'm navigating this transition and rebuilding.
