About Kimberly

Kimberly is a bilingual trauma therapist, clinical supervisor, speaker, and program developer dedicated to helping children, adolescents, young adults, and families heal from trauma and highly stressful life experiences. With expertise in trauma-informed care, she specializes in supporting Gen Z and Millennial populations through individual therapy, group facilitation, and psychoeducational programming. Kimberly currently serves as Director of Clinical Services at Anna Crawford Children's Center, where she provides clinical leadership, supervision, and oversight to ensure high-quality, client-centered care within a trauma-focused treatment environment.

Kimberly's journey into the mental health profession was inspired by a deeply personal turning point that led her to pursue a life of service through psychology and counseling. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University, graduating with academic distinction. Over the course of her career, she has worked extensively with children, families, and underserved communities, providing trauma-focused therapy, behavioral support, family interventions, and clinical consultation. In addition to her leadership role, Kimberly operates her private practice, Healing with Kimberly, where she provides culturally responsive, bilingual counseling services grounded in resilience, empowerment, and authentic human connection.

Passionate about expanding access to mental health support and reducing the stigma surrounding trauma, Kimberly is committed to creating safe spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and valued. Through speaking engagements, clinician mentorship, and community education, she advocates for compassionate, trauma-informed approaches that foster long-term healing. She is also developing Healing Ground, a nonprofit initiative designed to provide after-school programs and emotional wellness resources for children and families. Guided by faith, empathy, and a belief in the power of human resilience, Kimberly's mission is to help individuals move beyond survival and build lives rooted in hope, connection, and healing.

Ten minutes with Kimberly

01What do you attribute your success to?

My career has been shaped by the belief that even life's most difficult experiences can be transformed into purpose. After surviving a near-death experience in which I clinically died for seven seconds, I took a hard look at my life's direction and ultimately made the decision to leave the music industry and pursue a career in psychology and trauma-focused mental health counseling. Today, with eight years of clinical experience, I serve as the Director of Clinical Services at the Anna Crawford Children's Center in Georgia while also operating my private practice, Healing with Kimberly, where I support children, families, and individuals on their healing journeys after trauma.

My success is rooted in resilience, faith, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving vulnerable populations. I believe healing happens through authentic human connection and that every person's story deserves to be heard with empathy, respect, and dignity. One of the greatest privileges of my work is helping children who have experienced abuse and trauma rediscover hope, build resilience, and experience a sense of safety and belonging. I am also passionate about mentoring emerging clinicians and developing Healing Ground, a nonprofit organization focused on providing trauma-informed after-school programs that equip children with the emotional wellness skills they need to thrive throughout their lives.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I credit two remarkable mentors with profoundly shaping both my life and career. As a teenager, an accomplished woman saw potential in me that I had not yet recognized in myself. She challenged me to dream beyond the limitations of my circumstances and encouraged me to pursue opportunities I never thought were possible. Her belief in me helped build my confidence and taught me the importance of seeing possibilities where others may see obstacles.

Later, a university professor introduced me to the principles of trauma-informed care and opened my eyes to the far-reaching impact that understanding trauma can have on individuals, families, and entire communities. Through her guidance, I discovered a passion for helping others heal and found the professional path that ultimately became my life's work.

Together, these mentors taught me that purpose is found at the intersection of courage, education, and service. Their influence continues to guide my work today as I strive to empower others, create opportunities for healing, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I serve.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women entering the mental health profession to seek out excellent supervision, remain committed to lifelong learning, and prioritize self-care throughout their careers. This field is both rewarding and demanding, and investing in your own growth and well-being is essential to sustaining a meaningful and effective practice.

I have learned that progress is far more important than perfection. No clinician has all the answers, and growth comes through experience, reflection, and a willingness to continue learning. Give yourself permission to develop your skills over time, and don't let the pursuit of perfection prevent you from showing up fully for the people you serve.

Most importantly, remember that you cannot pour healing into others from an empty cup. Authentic connection, empathy, and presence are often the most powerful tools we bring into the therapeutic space. When clients feel truly seen, heard, and understood, meaningful healing can begin.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I believe one of the greatest challenges facing mental health professionals today is meeting the growing demand for trauma-informed care while also addressing the increasing risk of burnout and compassion fatigue among clinicians. As the need for mental health services continues to expand, it is essential that we not only support those seeking care but also ensure that the professionals providing that care have the resources, support, and balance needed to sustain their work.

At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity for women to help shape the future of the profession. Women are uniquely positioned to lead the development of innovative, community-based programs that make healing more accessible, particularly for children, families, and underserved populations. By bringing together clinical expertise, compassion, and creative problem-solving, we can expand access to meaningful support and improve outcomes for those who need it most.

I believe the future of trauma-informed mental health care will be strengthened through collaborative leadership, ongoing education, and a commitment to prioritizing clinician wellness alongside client care. When we invest in both those who provide services and those who receive them, we create healthier communities and a more sustainable path toward healing for everyone involved.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My life is grounded in faith, compassion, authenticity, and service. As a first-generation immigrant who grew up helping my family clean homes while dreaming of a different future, I learned the value of perseverance, hard work, and creating opportunities for others. Those experiences shaped my perspective and continue to inspire my commitment to helping individuals and families overcome challenges and reach their full potential. I believe that every obstacle can become an opportunity for growth when approached with faith, purpose, and determination.

Outside of my clinical work, I intentionally prioritize my own well-being by spending quality time with family and engaging in creative outlets such as music, drawing, and writing. These activities help me recharge emotionally and reflect my belief that healing can often be found through creativity, connection, and self-expression.

I strive to bring authenticity, empathy, and compassion into every aspect of my life and work. Whether I am supporting clients, mentoring clinicians, or collaborating with colleagues, my goal is to create an environment where people feel seen, heard, valued, and empowered to grow.
