Her Story
About Kimberly
I started in education for 15 years before moving into mental health about 4 years ago. My own experiences as a child with ADHD and executive functioning struggles inspired me to combine education with mental health support. I run a trauma-based division at Newport Academy supporting youth through therapeutic classrooms while they stay enrolled in school. I also work with Creative Positive Futures on ADHD coaching for various age groups and Life Tutors providing holistic life coaching to help clients reintegrate after treatment.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kimberly
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work, thinking outside of the box, not following the norm all the time, being empowered as a woman, and knowing my confidence and skills.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to lean in and listen. As women we want to go 90 miles an hour but there is beauty in slowing down and listening to others around you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Keep pushing. Keep pushing. You're capable.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I lead a life of positive mindset. I am a firm believer in health and nutrition and wellness. I have been an athlete for about 20 years and incorporate that into my life and practices. Having a proper faith system is also important.
