About Kimberly
Kimberly Mason serves as Payroll and Benefits Manager at Louis Vuitton, a role she has held for just over a year. In this position, she manages a team of five direct reports responsible for payroll processing and oversees all company benefits, including traditional offerings as well as perks and events. Mason began her career in HR around 2016 after relocating to the United States to care for her mother. Originally from Trinidad, she studied in the United Kingdom as a teenager and earned a BA in PR and Marketing from the University of West London. Her professional path started in marketing and PR, including work at a lingerie company and later at Christian Louboutin, before transitioning into recruitment and then HR roles such as HR coordinator at Kiko Milano Cosmetics. She previously held a SHRM membership and volunteered with a crisis group in the UK assisting individuals experiencing homelessness. Mason attributes her success to a combination of grit and gratitude, emphasizing her flexibility, agility, open-mindedness, persistence, and positive can-do attitude developed through personal challenges including the loss of her mother and a breast cancer diagnosis during pregnancy. She values collaboration, respect for others' unique stories, and compassion in both her professional and personal life.

01What do you attribute your success to?
A mix of grit and gratitude. My mom was my biggest cheerleader and always told me how proud she was. I am flexible, agile, open-minded, and persistent, refusing to give up through personal challenges like losing my mom and being diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant. My positive, can-do personality helps, and doing what I love keeps me motivated.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Do what you love because you spend most of your time at work. Don't burn bridges - treat everyone well because you never know when you might need to cross that path again. Trust that when one door closes, another one opens. Every setback leads you to where you're supposed to be.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Enjoy every single thought of the fun industry but keep yourself grounded in the real world. Believe in yourself and build inner confidence to make you unstoppable. Have a growth mindset and take power in your learning - with AI and internet, it's limitless.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include AI in compensation for benchmarking and pay equity, plus pay transparency laws. Opportunities in personalization and flexibility of benefits, mental health, caregiving options. Shining light on hidden benefits like legal support, backup childcare, wellness checks so employees leverage their full package.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Collaboration - working together and teaching kids to collaborate and share. Respect for others, remembering everyone has their own unique story and struggles. Compassion and empathy, especially after personal health challenges and losing my mom.
