Her Story

About Kimberly

Kimberly Moore is a benefits administration professional with approximately 25 years of industry experience. She currently serves as a Senior Associate at bswift, where she focuses on benefits administration and supports the accurate and efficient operation of client benefit programs. Her responsibilities include maintaining client benefit sites, managing member enrollment and eligibility information, overseeing eligibility files, coordinating information with outside vendors, and supporting client accounts. Prior to joining bswift, Kimberly spent approximately 19 years with her previous employer, building extensive experience in third-party administration, membership representation, eligibility, and employee benefits. Throughout her career, Kimberly has developed expertise in medical insurance, benefits administration, eligibility and enrollment, client account management, vendor coordination, benefits technology, and operational support. A particularly meaningful professional achievement was receiving a CEO Award, and a bMore Award relatively early in her tenure at bswift in recognition of the positive contributions she was making to the organization and her efforts to identify and implement operational improvements. The recognition was especially significant following her decision to leave a familiar position after 19 years. Although she initially questioned whether making such a major career change was the right decision, the experience ultimately provided new opportunities to challenge herself, grow professionally, and advance her career. She credits her continued development in part to mentors such as Morgan Young, Jacqui Jovonovich, Sara Guallpa and Heather McGill, whose guidance and encouragement have supported her at different stages of her professional journey. Kimberly approaches her career with a strong commitment to reliability, accuracy, continuous learning, perseverance, and personal growth. She believes that asking questions is one of the most effective ways to develop expertise and encourages others not to be afraid to acknowledge when they do not know something. She also recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence in benefits administration, viewing it as both an opportunity for greater efficiency and a challenge because AI-generated information can require careful manual verification. Outside of work, Kimberly enjoys traveling throughout the United States, reading, and spending time with her family. As she continues to develop professionally, she remains focused on strengthening her leadership abilities and preparing for the next stage of her career.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kimberly

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to dedication, loyalty, a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and the courage to embrace change. Throughout my career, I have learned that professional growth comes from remaining open to new experiences and being willing to challenge myself.

One of the most important lessons I have learned is the value of asking questions. I do not believe that I need to have every answer immediately. Instead, I see questions as one of the most effective ways to learn, develop expertise, and continue growing professionally.

I also believe that my willingness to step outside my comfort zone has contributed significantly to my success. Leaving a familiar position after 19 years was a major professional decision, but it ultimately opened the door to new opportunities and allowed me to continue developing both personally and professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The most important career lesson I have learned is to ask questions. Asking questions is one of the best ways to learn, and I believe there is no reason to be afraid to admit when I do not know something.

Throughout my career, I have found that being willing to learn from others has helped me develop my knowledge and expertise. Rather than feeling that I should already know everything, I believe it is more valuable to recognize opportunities to learn, seek clarification when necessary, and continue building my skills.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the medical insurance and benefits administration industry is to ask questions because that is how you learn. Do not be afraid to admit when you do not know something. Asking for clarification and learning from experienced colleagues can help you build knowledge, confidence, and expertise.

I would also encourage the next generation to remain open to growth and new opportunities. My own career has taught me that stepping outside of your comfort zone can lead to meaningful professional development and opportunities you may not have anticipated.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I believe artificial intelligence is both a challenge and an opportunity in the medical insurance and benefits administration industry. AI has the potential to speed up processes and create greater efficiency, but it can also produce inaccurate information.

Because inaccurate information can ultimately affect clients and members, I believe human oversight remains essential. Information generated or processed through AI needs to be manually verified to ensure that inaccurate data does not reach clients. The opportunity is to use technology to improve efficiency while maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and quality of service that clients and members depend on.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are reliability, accuracy, continuous learning, perseverance, and personal growth. I believe in being responsible and dependable in my work, paying close attention to detail, and being willing to ask questions and learn from others.

My career has also taught me the importance of perseverance and being willing to make changes when an opportunity for growth presents itself. Personally, family is extremely important to me. I value maintaining a fulfilling personal life alongside my professional ambitions and being present for the people who matter most to me.
